To Tom: Feel free to use this site as a platform. I've been meaning to do a blog post about how a movie can be made - way late on it, in fact! Let me finally get that going and then we can bash things back and forth and see if we can help you figure things out.

To Steph K: Our DVD release is September 22 and there are some irons in the fire for a limited theatrical release but hard to say if it will hit Alabama. I have been to your great film festival in Birmingham - Sidewalk Film Festival - and there are a lot of really nice folks in your state.

I am a big fan of Chris - and I didn't even recognize him in the trailer! OMG! I can't wait to see him in the movie! Any chance it will play in or around the Alabama area?

Thanks Joe. That is inspiring. I don't want to use your platform to peddle my own stuff but as we are all horror fans, may keep everyone informed how my film comes together. In the meantime, good luck with albino farm, it looks GREAT!

Got two good questions from Beth and Sarah.... three more like it and I'll shoot them to Chris!!!

To Tom.... Chris met Sean McEwen (co-director) in the "green room" of a TV station in Florida three years ago. They were yapping away about stuff and somehow got into their mutual interest in horror films. Sean and I then got back to Chris and asked if he would be interested to play a role in "Albino Farm." He agreed and we worked a character to his choosing and a deal with his reps.

As far as asking him if he would entertain acting offers? YES, if done properly.

All actors want offers but you need to be educated about how that is done before you do it. Some offers these days are "pay or play"deals and can get really complicated in the assurance that you are on the up and up. It seems easy on the surface - phone calls are - but the reality is that you need to make damn sure you are doing so in a serious manner and with the necessary goods. Chris has some really smart people working with him - managers and all - who field offers for him but they can spot bullshit a mile away. That's their job. Your job is to make an offer that is legit in their eyes. In other words, an offer that has the entire package figured out completely and if they say "yes" to your offer, than they're assured your project will actually happen.

The "package" means you have created a game plan (business plan) that not only includes the screenplay, a professional budget, other actors whom you are currently or likely to approach (co-stars with Chris), your plan for distribution, offers or deals for that distribution, a proven track record on other movies you made, where the funding for you film is coming from and proof that funding is actually in place (money must be in escrow). Then you get into shooting dates, hotel room stays and a myriad of things from there on. Simply put, you need to prove to them you are serious. You can still put on the sales puffery and tell him how great your project will be with him and how you think it may bring something to his career (which is what his manager is going to be thinking the entire time) but that "selling" should not smell of bullshit - should be icing on the cake of everything else.

All of this sounds like a tall order and, to be honest, it can be, but it's not impossible. I can tell you that we didn't have to jump through most of those hoops because of our relationship with Chris but that's kind of rare. All of the other movies I have done had to deal with all of that stuff. If you are at the stage now where all of the aforementioned work is done, his people are easily found and will totally talk with you. Just have the full goods!!! Best to you! Joe :-)
