Richard Christy talks story about Albino Farm!!!

Hey guys, what a small world it is.

Sean McEwan emailed me in 2007 to tell me about a horror movie he was working on inspired by a legend that he heard when he went to college in Springfield, MO.   He asked if I would like to appear in the film and I immediately said yes because I’m a huge horror fan and the movie sounded really cool.   When he told me that the movie was titled “Albino Farm” I couldn’t believe it!   I lived in Springfield, Missouri for three years and my buddies and I used to visit the actual Albino Farm on late weekend nights around Halloween!   Not only was I going to get to appear in a horror movie, but it’s a horror movie about a creepy place that I’ve been to!   My scenes were also filmed not far from Springfield so it was great to go back to Missouri to film these scenes and also visit some of my friends back in Springfield.

The whole cast and crew was super cool and I could tell that they were extremely passionate about this movie and it was a real labor of love for everybody.   I was very excited to meet Chris Jericho as well because I know he’s a lifelong Metalhead like myself!   Chris was an awesome dude and I ended up spending most of the days hanging in his trailer listening to Megadeth and other killer metal!   We’re both big Stryper fans too so we bonded over that right away!   It was also awesome meeting Kevin Spirtas because I’m a huge fan of the “Subspecies” movies and the “Friday the 13th” film that he’s in!

Needless to say, I’m very excited for everyone to see this movie – I’m so proud to be a part of it!    It is super scary, the special effects are amazing, the soundtrack rules (I’m a huge Queensryche and Scott Rockenfield fan!   As a drummer I used to practice every day along to Operation Mindcrime when I was 14 years old!).  “Albino Farm is an all around badass movie!   I’d like to thank Sean, Joe, Jason and everyone that helped me be a part of such an amazing film!

I grew up in Springfield and I had a spooky encounter there once.

I remember hearing about the stories of outcast albinos living there and it used to freak me out as a kid.

When I was old enough (8th – 9th grade), friends invited me to go out there. Someone just got a car and a license and picked us up from the Battlefield Mall at closing. The mall rat scene was ending as the mall closed for the night so someone mentioned going to the Albino Farm. All of us got a sudden rush at the notion so we headed out there.

None of us really believed the stories to be true and were there for the big social scene to meet girls.

I hate to admit it, but once we got out of the car and started walking around in the dark with no flashlights, man it really spooked all of us. We were trying to act tough and keep our composure but I was definitely shaking on the inside.

As we walked away from the crowd and deeper into the farm, we tried to laugh and make light of the situation. Then, we heard a faint sound in the distance like galloping horse. We froze thinking someone was somehow messing around and trying to scare everyone. The sound grew louder and was headed straight for us. I remember looking down this path behind us toward the direction of the galloping sound and seeing something white coming right for us.

I think we all just about pissed our pants when an unbridled, white horse comes running by with a earth pounding gallop and just vanished in the night.

    NO JOKE!

That scared the crap out of us. We ran all the way back to the car. I’ve never been back since.

I would like to go to this place. I had no idea there is a real albino farm.

  6. Your website looks really good. Being a blog writer myself, I really appreciate the time you took in writing this article.

Hey Georgie Bush… a man I met once. He refused to shake my hand and said, “can’t do it guy.” (Secret Service were giving me the stink-eye during a campaign rally years ago). This blog writing stuff is hard to do so thanks for posting! I have sadly been “off the page” for several months now and just catching up again and I am sure have some promises to keep that I have not met from some others posting here. Argh!!! – Joe :-)

To Rick Hollandsworth: Great story man! We were in Springfield for a month and during some scouting trips so I know the Battlefield Mall well. I have not been back to Springfield since we shot the movie but I am sure things still creep in the night over at the farm site.
    Joe :-)
